Getting started
Open your photos. Tap the folder button at the top and choose Open Folder to pick any folder in Files: iCloud Drive, an external drive, a network share. Or choose Import Files to copy photos into Loupe's own folder (On My iPhone/iPad > Loupe).
On a Mac, Pictures, Movies and Downloads are in the sidebar from the start. For any other folder (Desktop, an external drive, an SD card, a network share), click Add Folder… in the sidebar and choose it once. Loupe remembers it from then on.
Three workspaces. Switch at the top left.
- Files: everything in the folder. Rename, convert, copy, move and delete. Documents open in Quick Look.
- Photo Cull: photos and video only. Rate with stars, pick or reject, add colour labels and notes.
- PDF: read, mark up, fill and sign, organize pages, redact, protect and convert.
Common questions
Will Lightroom see my ratings? Yes. Loupe writes ratings, flags, labels and notes to standard XMP sidecar files next to each photo. Lightroom Classic reads them with Metadata > Read Metadata from Files; Bridge and Capture One read them automatically.
Do my PDF changes save automatically? In the PDF workspace, no: tap Save (⌘S on a keyboard). Until then you can Undo or Revert. Quick marks made from the photo loupe save on their own.
Is redaction permanent? Yes, once you save. The pages with redactions become images with the marked areas painted out, so the text is gone from the file, not hidden. Undo works until you save.
Can I sign with a certificate (digital ID)? Not yet. Loupe's signatures are drawn signatures, like Acrobat's Fill & Sign.
Does Loupe upload my files? No. Loupe makes no network connections at all. See the privacy policy.
