Loupe Privacy Policy
Effective November 1, 2026
Loupe is a photo browser and PDF toolkit for iPhone, iPad and Mac. This page says what the app does with your data, who is responsible for it, and what your rights are. The short version: your photos and documents stay on your device. Loupe makes no network requests, and there is no Loupe server and no account.
Who is responsible
Loupe is made by Alex Goeke, a sole proprietor doing business as Alexander Creative.

For privacy law (GDPR, UK GDPR) Alex Goeke is the controller of the one thing we do receive: your support email. Everything else on this page stays on your device and we never see it.
No account, no tracking
Loupe has no sign-in, no ads and no tracking of any kind. It adds no analytics code and no crash-reporting code, and it does not connect to the internet. We do not sell or share personal information, we process no sensitive data, and we make no automated decisions or profiles about you.
If you have chosen, in your device settings, to share analytics with app developers, Apple may send us anonymous crash and usage reports about Loupe. We do not get your name, your photos or your documents from them, and we cannot tell who sent a report. You can turn that off any time in Settings, Privacy & Security, Analytics & Improvements, Share With App Developers (on a Mac: System Settings, Privacy & Security, Analytics & Improvements, Share with app developers).
Your photos and documents stay on your device
Loupe opens the folders and files you choose and works on them on your device. It never uploads anything to us.
- Ratings, flags, colour labels and notes are written to small XMP sidecar files next to your photos, the standard format Lightroom, Bridge and Capture One read.
- Photo markup is stored in a small sidecar file next to the photo.
- PDF changes (annotations, form entries, signatures, page edits, redactions, passwords) are written into the PDF itself when you save.
- Your drawn signature and initials are kept in Loupe's own storage on your device so you can reuse them. You can delete them in the PDF workspace (Fill & Sign).
- Text recognition (OCR) uses Apple's on-device Vision framework. Nothing is sent anywhere.
- Remembered settings (your workspace, panel sizes, sort order, recent folders) are kept on your device.
Because your files never come to us, we can't use them for anything, and we don't train any model on them.
Sharing
When you use Share, Print or Open In, the file goes where you send it, through Apple's system share sheet. Loupe doesn't see or keep a copy of where it went.
What we do receive
Only what you send us yourself: if you email creative@alexandergoeke.com, we get your email address and whatever you write. We use it to answer you and keep it only as long as needed for that. Ask and we'll delete it.
Children
Loupe is not directed at children and collects no data from anyone.
Your rights
You can ask us what we hold about you (at most, your support emails), to correct it or to delete it, by emailing creative@alexandergoeke.com. Residents of California, the EU, the UK and elsewhere have these rights by law; we extend them to everyone.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new effective date.
